Memorandum of Association
Memorandum of Association: INDIAN PLANETARY SCIENCE ASSOCIATION
The name of the organisation shall be "Indian Planetary Science Association (IPSA)", or Bharatiya Grahiyavignyana Sangathan, herein after referred to as the 'Association' or 'Sangathan'.
The registered office of the Association shall be located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and until otherwise determined shall be situated at Physical Research Laboratory, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad - 380009.
The aims and objectives of the Association shall be the promotion of Planetary Science and related branches of science in India. The functions of the Association in pursuance of this objective shall be:
To encourage the study of all aspects of Planetary Science and help towards the advancement, dissemination and application of the knowledge of Planetary Science.
To promote active interaction among all persons, bodies, educational and research institutions (Private and/ or state owned) and industries interested in item 3 (i)
To issue such publications (e.g., Bulletin, Journal, Newsletter, etc,) from time to time, as may be decided upon by the Executive Council of the Association, in pursuance of item 3 (i).
To hold periodic scientific meetings in Planetary Science, for presentation of original papers, review talks, etc., and also to participate in holding International Meetings in India.
To encourage coordinated research programmes among Indian scientists working in Planetary Science and exchange of research personnel between institutions and universities in India.
To keep liaison with other atomic and molecular physics societies of the world.
To institute lectures, prizes and fellowships
To express the views of the Planetary Science community regarding the current status and future developments of this subject in India.
To initiate and perform any other activities and functions which would further advance Planetary Science and related sciences in India.
To popularise Planetary Science among the educational institutions and in the general public of India by.
Arranging lectures on Planetary Science
Striving to include courses on Planetary Science in the School, College and University curricula.
Cooperating in conducting symposia, schools, etc.
Taking up any other suitable activity.
The business of the Association shall be controlled and conducted by an Executive Council hereinafter referred to as The functions and powers of the Council will be as laid down in the Rules and Regulations. The first Council shall consist of the following persons whose names, occupations and addresses are set out below. Afterwards the Council shall be reconstituted through elections, as provided in the Rules and Regulations.
